Slowly making progress towards the Dex completion. Even in filler episodes like this, it feel more satisfying to know that progress is still being made. I can only hope this is just growing pains towards getting used to a character capturing so many Pokémon this frequently, but it’s definitely something that needs fixing before it makes Gou’s goal seem duller than it is.

May’s back on the Contest path, blazing a trail to the Kanto Grand Festival, while Ash seeks out the hidden facilities of the Battle Frontier. The territory might be familiar, but even Ash and Brock can find more than a few surprises in their home region of Kanto, like a Pokémon Ranger hot on the cases of two Legendary Pokémon!

Episode #10 The Green Guardian. Another issue it’s bringing to the forefront is that regardless of execution, Gou’s goal effectively guarantees him a degree of focus above Ash, which only makes the fact he hasn’t gotten a concrete goal for this series yet all that much noticeable. Neither of these issues are completely series breaking yet, but they could be if they don’t work to either mitigate or fix it.On the whole, though, this episode is still overall more enjoyable than not, with an episode that tells an okay story and still delivers some good fun and definitely achieves what the episode set out to do. Log In May it be a good one!To be honest, as boring as it is to see Gou catching Pokémon left and right with no emotional attachment every single episode, I still feel like it's somewhat of a highlight in these episodes. In past series it was a big deal when someone caught a new pokemon, it was literally a whole new character joining the main party, a new personality to get to know, something to learn about.With Gou catching everything that walks in front of him, none of his pokemon (Save Scorbunny) feel like they have any character or personality, they appear for a couple minutes then are whisked away never to be heard from again.For example when Dawn caught her Bunneary that pokemon had a whole personality of love struck damsel, we got to learn about it, what it liked, its relationship to the rest of the team, etc.Here Gou catches say Sentret and it's just a Sentret, I have no confidence it will ever be fleshed out or seen again.About Gou always having to capture something, I think it's one of those it can't be helped things since there are just too many pokemons. It’s an average episode, with all that comes with it.I will say, however, that this episode is really starting to highlight an issue regarding Gou’s handling, something that’s always been there to a degree but that it’s slowly becoming clearer as time passes, and that is the way Gou approaches catching Pokémon.
